I got laid off from my dream job a few years ago. I say it was a dream job but it had actually turned into a nightmare (won’t go into the specifics). Since then, I have a developed a polite version of a “fuck you money” mentality (sans money obviously). Now, I do my job the way I think it should be done and not how I think my boss wants it. My old boss was never satisfied with my people pleasing work, and my current boss and clients are happy with my work because I did the best I could do. Not the best that other people thought I should do.
